KUBUS (URA, KOCKA)
On Baske Ostarije, by the road Gospic-Karlobag, there lies a stone, carved in 1846, also known as KUBUS, URA or KOCKA (cube).
The size of this carved stone is 1.25m x 1.23m. It consists of four round stones. The cube was placed there during the construction of the road linking Gospic and Karlobag (1844-1850).
Thirty three steps lead to the Cube.
Once there you will be able to enjoy the magnificent scenic views of the coastline with the islands on one side and the mount Velebit and beautiful Baske Ostarije pass on the other. There are inscriptions engraved in Latin and German.
The Latin inscription reads:: "Ferdinandus I Austr. imp.MDCCCXLVI "

A Baske Ostarije, sur la route Gospic-Karlobag, il y a une pierre, sculptée en 1846, aussi connue sous le nom de Kubus, Ura ou Kocka (cube).
Ses dimensions sont de 125 sur 123 cm. Il s'agit de quatre pierres rondes. le cube a été installé entre 1844 et 1850 durant la construction de cette route.
Trente-trois marches mènent au cube.
Une fois là-haut vous pouvez profiter au maximum de la vue imprenable sur la c^te et les îles d'un côté, sur les Monts Velebit et le beau col d'Ostrije de l'autre. Il y a des inscriptions en latin et en allemand.
La phrase latine dit "Ferdinandus I Austr.imp.MDCCCXLVI "

17km long with a start at Karlobag, hairpins and a regumar slope of 7%. 1km falt in the middle way. Tunnel on the top but a narrow road reaches the pass...juste up the tunnel. Impressive scenery on the coast and the isles. To keep absolutely ! .
