Depuis Vatra Dornei, la N17 s'étiole en quelques monticules épars avant qu'à la sortie de Poiana Stampei, elle ne prenne son envol. Un petit mur et déjà un replat descendant avec vision d'un deuxième mur sur la gauche beaucoup plus long. Au sommet, on se croit au dessus car il y a présence de quelques cabanons . Mais non, la route large et bien revêtue redescend à nouveau avant d'entamer la dernière boucle où l'on aperçoit le vrai sommet sur sa gauche. De là haut, la vision de la descente laisse entrevoir deux kilomètres plus bas le col et son tourisme. Artisans et hôtels se pressent autour de l'hôtel Dracula dressé à cet endroit pour célébrer la mémoire du célèbre Vlad Dracul de Sighisoara. A voir la beauté proprette du paysage, on comprend qu'on puisse aimer l'endroit.

From Vatra Dornei, the national road 17 has only few small climbs, before Poiana Stampei. Outside this village, the climb really begins. A small wall and then already a flat zone and even a downhill. In this downhill, you can look at your left and see a long straight wall. On its top, you think being up the real summit, but no, the road begins to go down another time and there is finally a last curve giving the opportunity to see on the left area the real BIG. From this uppest point, have a look to the downhill : two kilometers further, there is the pass, with artists, sellers around the wellknown hostel Dracula, built to preserve the memory of the terrible Vlad Dracul, alias Dracula. Watching all around us in this marvelous landscape, we can understand that someone is able to love this pass.
