Un pointage sur carte indique que 2/3 des ascensions (34 BIG sur 50) est concentré sur un « L » situé dans la partie sud-ouest du territoire allemand :
A view on map indicates that 2/3 of the climbs (34 on 50) are confined in a kind of "L" located in the west-southern part of the german country.
En conséquence, le reste du territoire n’est représenté que par 16 ascensions, alors qu’il recèle des massifs, anciens et donc usés certes, mais nombreux et aux dénivellations bien marquées.
Consequently, the rest of the country is only shown through 16 climbs, never mind the fact that there are in those areas old massives, certainly curved, but they are many and with good differences of level.
La quantité allouée au Schwarzwald et aux Alpes bavaroises semble correspondre au caractère montagneux de ces deux massifs. Toutefois, au-delà du nombre apparent, la répartition des ascensions au sein de ces deux massifs présente également quelques défauts.
The number of climbs in the Black Forest and the Bavarian Alps seem to be in full agreement with the importance of those mountains. Nevertheless, over this appearing number, the dispatching inside those two mountains show some mistakes.
Alpes bavaroises / Bavarian Alps
A- La répartition révèle une surconcentration interne : 4/10 (191, 192, 193, 194) dans l’Allgau (à l’ouest) et 3/10 (196, 197, 198) au sud de München (centre-est). Conséquence directe : des sous-zones ne sont pas représentées. Les Préalpes (Voralpen) sont totalement absentes.
The dispatching show too much climbs : (4/10) (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994) in the Allgau (western area) and 3/10 (196, 197, 198) at the south of Munich (east-center). Direct consequence : under-zones aren't taken in the choice. The prealps are completely empty.
B- A de trop rares exceptions près (192, 199, 200), l’état bavarois, contrairement à ses voisins autrichiens, ne semble pas favorable au revêtement des chemins de montagne. Une analyse sur carte montre clairement que le nombre de routes (revêtues) d’altitude ne correspond absolument pas aux attentes de la réalité topographique des Alpes bavaroises.
With too rare exceptions (192, 199, 200), the bavarian area doesn't seem fond of covering and surfacing its gravelled mountaineous paths. An analysis on the map clearly shows that the number of surfaced roads in altitude idn't equal to the average height of the massive.
Schwarzwald (Forêt Noire) / Black Forest
Le massif présente également une surconcentration significative. Si 167, 168, 169 et 170 sont équitablement réparties entre Baden-Baden (au nord) et Freiburg (au sud), les 6 autres ascensions (de 171 à 176) sont agglutinées entre Freiburg (au nord) et Lörrach (au sud)
The dispatching also show too much climbs somewhere. If numbers 167, 168, 169 and 170 are well dispatched between Baden-Baden (north) and Freiburg (south), the other 6 climbs (from 171 to 176) are close one to another between Freiburg (north) and Lörrach (south)
Rive gauche du Rhin (Eifel, Hunsrück) / Left side of the Rhine (Eifel, Hunsrück)
L’Eifel (au nord de la Moselle, rive gauche) compte 7 ascensions BIG, intéressantes certes, mais un tel quota (+/- 15%) ne correspond pas à la représentativité du massif par rapport à la topographie de l’Allemagne. A titre comparatif, le Harz en compte 3 et le centre-sud de l’Allemagne est absent du brevet.
The Eifel (northern side of the river Moselle) has 7 BIG's climbs, surely interesting, but with some high data (about 15%), it doesn't give a good view of the importance of this small mountain. The topografic view of the mountain shows that there are too much BIGs inside. To compare, the Harz (greater mountain) has 3 BIGs and the south-center of Germany is empty.
Le Hunsrück (au sud de la Moselle, rive droite) compte également 7 ascensions BIG, avec les mêmes réserves que celles observées dans l’Eifel.
The Hunsrück (south of the river Moselle, right side) has 7 BIG's climbs too, with the same remark as previously.
Pour améliorer la représentativité de la liste BIG, attendu que le nombre d’ascensions affectées à l’Allemagne doit rester identique (50), il serait intéressant de réduire le nombre de côtes des trois régions précitées et de procéder à une « délocalisation » dans des régions absentes jusqu’à présent.
To get better dispatched the german BIG's listing, according to the fact that the number of climbs for Germany must stay 500, it would be interesting to reduce the number of climbs of three regions overfilled and to proceed to a kind of move to presently empty spaces.
